SHE CUT OFF THE FRIEND WHO INTRODUCED HER TO THE INVESTOR — AND SAID SHE OWES HIM NOTHING

A fictional creator deal turns a favor into a public feud over money and memory.

[FOUNDER TEST — FICTIONAL SCENARIO. NOT REAL NEWS. NOT ABOUT REAL PEOPLE.] Fictional creator Mara Vale closed an eight-figure brand deal after investor Jordan Ellis joined her cap table. Ellis was introduced by childhood friend Theo Marsh, who signed a one-page “finder acknowledgment” with no equity and no fee. When Marsh asked for 5% of Vale's first-year brand payout, Vale posted that “introductions aren't employment” and blocked Marsh on social platforms. Marsh shared redacted texts showing Vale once wrote “you literally changed my life with that email.” Fictional newsletter Deal Receipt published both sides. No real people or companies are depicted.

Every windfall has a backstory — and someone who remembers the draft email.
